Winner: Ki Pha

She was one of the first to get the answer.

Thank you to everyone who participated. We had a pretty great turn out for a last minute contest. It was great hearing the guesses and I really enjoyed picking out the hints for you all.

For those of you curious about the hints and how they tie in, here’s a brief explanation.

The Lady of Shallot by John William Waterhouse

The Lady of Shallot by John William Waterhouse

The Lady Shallot was painted during Lord Alfred Tennyson’s time. He wrote a poem entitled the The Lady of Shallot in 1842. It’s a tragic story about the Arthurian Elaine’s unrequited love for Sir Lancelot. She spends her life in a tower until she dies of a broken heart. If you’ve never read it, you should really check it out!

A Frying Pan

A Frying Pan

I couldn’t resist adding it. The frying pan comes from Disney’s re-telling of Rapunzel, Tangled. It’s a great movie!

This one was a bit tough, I’ll admit. I was interested in seeing how creative people could get. Lettuce ties in with the original Brothers Grimm’s Tale. In the story, the husband steals a kind of vegetable, which Rapunzel is later named after, from a sorceress for his wife to eat while she’s pregnant. (I’ve heard those pregnancy cravings can be killer!) Rapunzel is actually a type of German lettuce so…Americanize it, and our heroine is named Lettuce.

A hair brush

A Hair Brush

I hope this hint is fairly obvious now that we have the answer! Without a hair brush, our heroine would have one humongous knot!

Now, last but not least, we have the winner of our Business Card Drawing a.k.a. Contest Two!

Congrats to…

Barbara J. Hancock!

Barbara writes modern gothic romance. I don’t often read gothics, but her Darkening Around Me sounds really great!

Thanks for two great contests everyone! I’ll have another post concluding RWA up soon.

Lots of love,

Final Hint!

Hey guys,

I apologize for not posting yesterday night. I crashed the minute I got back to my hotel room. I’ll either put up the post this afternoon or combine it with todays.

Anywho, today is the last day of both contests–the business card draw for those of you at RWA and the guess my fairy tale. It’s been so much fun! I’ve loved meeting all of you and hearing your thoughts about the hints!

Here are the previous hints:
